It’s completely natural to feel nervous or worried about pubic speaking, a presentation, a test/exam, or even the future in general. Regular worry sucks, but it is usually short lived. Anxiety on the other hand, goes far beyond regular worry.
Anxiety feels awful and it can be debilitating! Anxiety is a mental and emotional state characterized by excessive and difficult to control worry. If you're struggling with anxiety, then you know the that the anxious mind tends to run endless loops of what ifs, worst-case scenarios, hypothetical no-win situations, sprinkled with a never ending supply of negative self-talk. In addition to that, the anxious mind creates multiple hurdles for itself. These hurdles includes: rumination, restlessness, irritability, difficulty concentrating, muscle tension, difficulty sleeping, and fatigue.
Given all of that, is it really surprising that anxious individuals find it difficult to live in the Present-Moment? Is it surprising that anxious individual sometimes feel overwhelmed? The constant barrage of anxious thoughts often makes it difficult to focus on what it important and to enjoy the Present-Moment. Moreover, the constant state of anxiousness leaves you fatigued and disconnected from others, which in turn negatively impacts your sense of self, your relationships, your stoical supports, and your ability to be productive at work/school.

Anxiety can be insidious. Left untreated, it can significantly disrupt your quality of life.
I believe transparency in the treatment process directly contributes to positive treatment outcomes. As such, you can expect me to demystify the the therapeutic process. This means psychoeducation and bibliotherapy are embedded in every treatment plan.
I am trained in multiple modalities, therefore you can anticipate that we will approach healing in more than one way. In the process, we will discover which approach(s) best suits your personality and clinical needs. As a trauma specialist, I know "the body keeps the score", therefore I promote a holistic approach to healing; this means addressing the mind, body, and soul. The treatment process is collaborative, so you will always have choice about how (fast, slow, etc.) we proceed, so speak up - I'm listening.
In my practice, I work with anxiety in the following way:
1. Psychoeducation
2. Bibliotherapy
3. Cognitive Awareness
4. Body-Based Awareness
5. Present-Moment Techniques
6. Gentle Exposure Exercises
7. Deep Emotional Processing (Trauma)
8. Tools for IRL
Anxiety therapy is not easy. Re-training the brain takes time, hard work, sweat, and yes - tears. It’s gruelling work to rebuild a strong foundation, but I think you will find the results are worth it. And remember, you don’t have to do the heavy lifting all by yourself anymore.
Research has shown that psychotherapy is highly effective at producing positive treatment outcomes. Let me help you to regain the ability to enjoy life.
