Everyone experiences sadness, disappointments, and losses in life. Unlike regular sadness or grief, depression is more profound. Depression is significantly more than fleeting sadness. Depression is a prolonged state of severe despair that permeates every aspect of life, including mental and physical well-being, relationships, work, and personal aspirations. Depression disrupts daily activities and can lead to physical symptoms like changes in weight, sleep disturbances, or a loss of energy. With severe depression, functioning becomes challenging as depression drains energy levels. Cognitive impairment is also a factor. Basic tasks, such as showering or getting out of bed or finding enjoyment in once-loved activities, become difficult. Concentration wavers, feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness prevail, and engagement with others falters.
Depression is a serious condition, often beyond the scope of self-help. Left untreated depression can significantly impact one's ability to function in daily life.

I believe transparency in the treatment process directly contributes to positive treatment outcomes. As such, you can expect me to demystify the the therapeutic process. This means psychoeducation and bibliotherapy are embedded in every treatment plan.
I am trained in multiple modalities, therefore you can anticipate that we will approach healing in more than one way. In the process, we will discover which approach(s) best suits your personality and clinical needs. As a trauma specialist, I know "the body keeps the score", therefore I promote a holistic approach to healing; this means addressing the mind, body, and soul. The treatment process is collaborative, so you will always have choice about how (fast, slow, etc.) we proceed, so speak up - I'm listening.
